Global warming is the process when the earth heats up and the temperature rises. This happen when there is an increase in the production of gases like CO₂, water vapours, nitrous oxide and methane, which are known as the green house gases. These green house gases trap heat and light from the sun in the earth’s atmosphere and cause global warming. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the average temperature of the earth has risen by 0.8° Celsius.
Around the world climate change is causing long term changes to the environment. The sea levels are rising and Arctic sea ice is melting. More intense hurricanes are approaching our coast lines and more glaciers are retreating from the mountain valleys they once filled. Warmer temperatures have led to more intense rainfall in some areas. This can cause flooding, higher temperatures cause droughts in some areas of the world causing a decline in crop productivity which may lead to food shortage. Heat waves have become common and more living species are becoming endangered.

To
The Headmaster,
[Your School Name],
[Your School Address].
Subject: Request for arranging an educational tour.
Sir,
With due respect, I, on behalf of the students of Class 9, beg to state that we are highly interested in going on an educational tour this academic session. We would like to visit a place of historical and cultural interest, such as Murshidabad or the Science City in Kolkata.
Bookish knowledge alone remains incomplete without practical exposure. An educational tour is absolutely necessary for the total development of students. It takes us beyond the four walls of the classroom, offering hands-on learning experiences. It breaks the monotony of daily classes, helps us understand our history and environment visually, and fosters a strong sense of cooperation and discipline among us.
We would be highly obliged if you kindly consider our request and arrange this tour under the guidance of our teachers. We are ready to contribute to the necessary expenses.
Thanking you,
Yours obediently,

TWO KILLED IN A TRAGIC ROAD ACCIDENT AT LODHASULI
By a Staff Reporter
Lodhasuli, April 6: A tragic road accident claimed two lives, including a woman, and left ten others injured yesterday, April 5, on the Jhargram-Kharagpur route.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred around noon when a dumper truck suffered a sudden brake failure. The driver lost control of the vehicle, and the truck collided head-on with a Kharagpur-bound bus coming from Jhargram. The impact was so severe that two passengers died on the spot.
Ten other passengers sustained injuries. Local residents rushed to the spot and immediately sent the injured to the Jhargram Hospital. Most of them were released after receiving first aid.
Following the mishap, angry locals staged a massive agitation, blocking the road and disrupting traffic for hours. A huge police force arrived soon after, pacified the agitators, and cleared the wreckage. Normalcy was finally restored on the highway after a couple of hours. The police have registered a case and initiated a probe into the mechanical failure of the truck.
