Once they planned to finish him in a clever way. They requested Akbar to ask Tansen to sing Deepak Raag. it is a wonderful Raag. When sung properly, it makes the atmosphere so warm that gradually the Deepak or lamp will catch fire and ultimately the singer himself will die out of immense heat. Akbar was ignorant about this effect of the Raag. So he ordered Tansen to sing Deepak. Tansen knew that it was almost a death sentence for him. But how could he disobey the emperor? Fortune favours the brave. He was not born to turn his back at unseen dangers. He taught his daughters Saraswati and Rupabati, a disciple of Haridas Swami, the Raag Meghamathar which brings rain.<\/p>\n<p>On that fateful day, Tansen began the alaap, the air became warm. As the tempo of the Raag increased, birds died. People cried in horror as flames shot up everywhere and the unlit lamp burned. Tansen himself was gasping for breath.
