Tom thought he would hold the tooth in reserve for the present. He remembered hearing from a doctor that a certain ailment could lay up a patient for three days and make him lose a finger, He eagerly drew his sore toe from under the sheet and held it up for inspection. Sitar Maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar’s ashes were immersed in the Ganga at his birth place on Tuesday. One of the most celebrated sons of Varanasi, Shankar died at a hospital in San Diego, California, on December 11,2012. Wife Sukanya, daughters Norah Jones (winners of nine Grammy Awards) and Sitar player Anoushka Shankar, and Anoushka’s husband Joe Wright arrived here with the ashes on Monday afternoon. It may be mentioned here that shankar would go boat riding in the Ganga whenever he visited the city.
