(Lesson – 1, The Wind Cap)
“Since you put me on your head like a hat to keep me safe, I shall give you a different kind of cap in return, the kind sailors most desire. A cap full of wind. But there’s one warning, no human hand will ever be able to take it off.”
Then with a blink, the fairy man disappeared leaving a striped cap behind. Young Jon put the cap on his head and ran home to tell his mother.
“No good will come of the wind cap,” she said. But the lad would have none of her cautions. The very next day, putting on the sailor’s cap, he ran off to the sea. On seeing a ship anchored near the shore, he requested the captain to take him along. Thus began his first ever sea voyage!

4. Write a story in about hundred words using the following hints : 5
[Hints: A crow finds a piece of meat — flies to a tree — a hungry fox sees him — wants the meat — praises the crow’s voice — asks him to sing — the crow opens his mouth — meat falls down — fox picks it up and leaves.]
The Clever Fox and the Foolish Crow
Once a crow found a piece of meat and flew to a branch of a tree to eat it. A hungry fox was passing by and saw the crow with the meat. He wanted the meat for himself. The fox thought of a plan and began to praise the crow. He said, “Oh beautiful bird, your feathers are so bright! I am sure your voice is even sweeter. Please sing a song for me.”
The foolish crow felt very proud. As soon as he opened his mouth to sing, the piece of meat fell to the ground. The clever fox quickly picked it up and ran away, laughing at the crow.
Moral: Do not trust a flatterer.

Write a paragraph in about eighty words on the changes that you see in nature when spring comes after winter.

When spring arrives after the cold, dry winter, nature undergoes a magical transformation. The harsh chill fades away, replaced by a gentle, warm breeze. Trees that stood bare and lifeless start sprouting fresh green leaves. Flowers like marigolds and palash bloom in vibrant colours, filling the air with their sweet fragrance. The quiet of winter is broken by the sweet song of the cuckoo. Everything looks bright, lively, and full of new hope as the earth awakens from its long sleep.
