As he entered the school gate, an idea occurred to him. He would deliver the letter to the headmaster at the end of the day. There was a chance Samuel might do something during the course of the day to justify the letter. Swami stood at the entrance to his class. Samuel was teaching arithmetic. He looked at Swami. Swami hoped Samuel would scold him severely.

“You are half an hour late,” Samuel said. “I have a headache, sir,” Swami said. “Then why did you come at all?” This was an unexpected question from Samuel.

3. Read the following passage and answer the questions :

Former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam passed away in Shillong on 27th July, 2015. He was 83. Kalam, who reached Shillong via Guwahati in the morning, collapsed during a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong (IIM-S) at around 6.30 p.m. and was rushed to the Bethani Hospital. Doctors at the hospital said he was brought dead around 7 p.m. “He had no pulse when he was admitted to the hospital. We can attribute his death to cardiac arrest,” a doctor said.

Kamal was born in Rameswaram, Tamilnadu and studied physics and aerospace engineering. Kalam served as president for five years from 2002, enjoying the support of both the ruling B.J.P and the opposition Congress.

How Newspapers Are Published

Newspapers are published through several steps. First, news and photographs are collected from reporters and photographers. Then the news is sorted according to importance. After sorting, the news is edited carefully to remove mistakes. The edited news is then set into printing machines. Large paper rolls are inserted into the machines and the news and photographs are printed. After printing, the papers are folded and cut properly. Finally, they are made ready for distribution and delivered door to door to the readers.

B. Write a letter to your friend living in another state, describing to him the family get- together you have enjoyed recently. You may use the following points :
